Michelle focuses her practice on family law, domestic abuse, and estate planning for families throughout Southeastern Minnesota. She obtained her law degree from Loyola University Chicago and her undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Michelle first began her legal career in Illinois as a tax practitioner and then completed a judicial clerkship with the late Honorable Jean Prendergast Rooney at the Circuit Court of Cook County. In 2013, she relocated to Minnesota and has since made Rochester her home with her family. Prior to joining Walters & Wintering, Ltd., Michelle has worked in Minnesota as an investment advisor, practiced estate planning, and served the low-income community for three years at Legal Assistance of Olmsted County in the areas of family law, domestic violence law, and landlord-tenant law.
In addition, Michelle is an active volunteer as a pro bono attorney and tax preparer. She is the current President of the Olmsted County Bar Association, and the Co-Chair of the Women Attorneys of Rochester. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, reading and playing soccer.

Michelle takes a custom approach to each case, recognizing that the facts and circumstances for every client are different. She provides clients with honest assessments of their case, and values client communication. Michelle believes that most family law cases are best resolved in alternative dispute resolution with clients retaining decision-making authority, but she is passionate about litigating for her clients when appropriate.
